Amundsen

Amundsen has reached the Pole.

“The same endurance, the same skill and the same meed of endeavour must be granted to Amundsen, as the Norwegian people would grant to Scott if the positions [were] reversed.” (Shackleton, writing in the Daily Chronicle)

“Amundsen is perhaps the greatest Polar explorer of today.” The “thoroughness of [his] preparations, the rapidity [of] the journey . . . The outstanding feature is that Amundsen made for himself an entirely new route.” (Shackleton, writing in the Daily Mail)
